Goldfields 1900′s
There has been a long history of Italian involvement in the development of the State of Western Australia. Place names such as New Norcia and Subiaco are synonymous with the rich Italian heritage in the State. Italian expertise is reflected in every facet of life in this State – in politics, business, sport, culture and the arts and community.
The strong sense of community and national pride – paesano or compatriot – sums up the Italian experience. Italian today enjoy the status of being senior partners in a multicultural Australia and are responsible for establishing the strong sense of Italian culture that exists in Western Australia today.
